2019 SPRING LUNCHEON: “PATHWAYS TO THE FUTURE”
UC Chancellor Carol Christ, Keynote Speaker
Friday, April 19, 11:00 am - 1:30 pm
Pauley Ballroom, UC Berkeley Campus
Please join us for our biggest fundraising event of the year! The theme for this year’s luncheon is “Pathways to the Future.” We will be honoring Wyn Skeels, BUSD Career Technical Education Program Supervisor, for his work in developing educational pathways at Berkeley High for careers connected to Bay Area industries and trades; and Michael McLaughlin, BUSD preschool teacher, for his work in helping set a solid foundation for our youngest students.
Every year, nearly 500 attendees join us at this community-wide event that celebrates and supports Berkeley public schools. The Schools Fund relies 100% on contributed income, and the Spring Luncheon raises over 1/3 of our annual budget.
We apologize for the conflict on April 19 with the first day of Passover and Good Friday. With the closure of Hs’ Lordships, which was the location of our event for over 20 years, the Pauley Ballroom is now the only event space in Berkeley that can accommodate over 400 people. The Spring Luncheon typically has over 450 guests. We contacted the Pauley Ballroom in May of 2018 and Friday, April 19 was the only date available to us in the months of March, April or May in 2019. Again, we are sorry we could not avoid scheduling on a religious holiday.
