BSV School Supplies Team

Who are we? We are a team of volunteers who came together early in the crisis to ensure that students sheltering-in-place had the tools they needed for academic success. 

Accomplishments to Date: In partnership with BUSD’s Office of Family Engagement & Equity and City Center Church, BSV designed grade-specific school supplies “kits,” preschool to 12th grade. After making a giant purchase (including over 9 pallets of supplies!), BSV engaged upwards of 100 BSV and City Center volunteers across multiple shifts and days in assembling 2500 kits in a socially-distanced manner.  These color-coded school supplies bags were then transferred to the Ed Hub for distribution to BUSD’s highest needs students.(as identified and referred by school site staff). School supplies bags were either claimed by families at BUSD’s Ed Hub, or were delivered by one of BSV’s Task Runner volunteers.

Current Work: The BSV School Supplies team is now ad-hoc, gathering as necessary when there are new needs. The team supported BUSD Summer School in assembling additional supplies bags for summer students, and will likely support again in early fall.
