HOW WE ARE HELPING
EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE: Donations are supporting $10,000 a week in emergency assistance to families. Many parents in our community have lost their jobs and are struggling to support their families. Working with the District Office of Family Engagement and Equity, funds are helping with basic needs like food, diapers and hygiene supplies in addition to helping with bills and rent. This community support to help stabilize families is critical for our students and their ability to learn.
BOOKS: Donations fund books for distribution at the District’s free meal sites in addition to literacy coaches ordering books for individual students.
VOLUNTEERS: 500 community members with valuable skills and talents are being mobilized into teams to help with tech assistance and distance learning in addition to helping with distribution of Chromebooks and hands-on activity kits for students.
TECHNOLOGY: Our staff and volunteers are supporting systems for Chromebook distribution by organizing requests, responding to families and enlisting volunteers to clean, package and distribute Chromebooks.
THANK YOU volunteers and donors for supporting Berkeley public schools!
