High School Opportunities (9th – 12th Grades)
Volunteering Opportunities

Creating Opportunity

Our oldest students attend either the 3,000+ student, centrally-located Berkeley High School, or the smaller and more personalized Berkeley Technology Academy (aka “B Tech”) down the street. Berkeley High is broken into small school communities based on academic themes or job-field specializations.

High School volunteers often spend time:

  • Mentoring students with college-readiness skills in the Avid program
  • Assisting students with special needs in and across classrooms

High School volunteers also can assist:

  • Providing technical expertise in 1 of Berkeley High’s 10 Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways
  • Bolstering college readiness skills through the College & Career Center

BUSD high schools run August through June, from approximately 8 am – 3 pm.  In addition, there are a multitude of after school volunteer opportunities from approximately 3 pm – 7 pm. These include drop-in homework tutoring and SAT/ACT prep with BHS’ Bridge program and supporting student athletes with essential study skills.
