We invite parents and guardians of students in BUSD to help us build a community committed to public education—as a donor, a volunteer, or both.
We seek to work closely with BUSD administrators, educators, families, and community partners to bridge the gaps in our schools—to co-create a school system that gives all our students the opportunity to develop their academic skills, social-emotional wellness and intelligence, and a sense of agency and civic responsibility. We accomplish this through our grants and programs that address one or all of these tenets:

Volunteering is a great way to become involved in your school community! Berkeley Schools Volunteers provides many opportunities, from volunteering in classrooms, libraries and gardens to staffing school-site food pantries and other food security initiatives. Ever wonder how our community’s donations directly support your child’s classroom? Every year, Schools Fund Equity Grants go straight to BUSD educators, funding projects such as targeted academic interventions, expanded library collections, and family engagement events.

The Schools Fund, in coordination with BUSD, is offering a continuum of free K-12 STEM program opportunities, which are designed to to close the opportunity gap in STEM education and to build student confidence and participation in STEM fields.
