As we ring in the new school year, the Berkeley Public Schools Fund is thrilled to welcome Seth Newman to our team as our new Development Officer. Seth brings incredible energy and a wealth of experience, and will play a pivotal role in shaping our fundraising strategy during this crucial year for the Schools Fund’s growth.
In this role, you’ll see Seth engaging the community at events, crafting fundraising strategies to help us meet our goals, and working closely with our Board Development Committee to strengthen donor relationships.
A Track Record of Innovation and Impact
Seth comes to the Schools Fund with more than a decade of experience working at the intersection of technology and fundraising. He has led annual giving campaigns and volunteer fundraising initiatives for colleges and universities both in California and on the East Coast. In recent years, he has focused on helping nonprofits leverage technology to drive stronger fundraising outcomes.
Seth is deeply passionate about connecting donors with causes that champion equity and accessibility in education. He sees philanthropy not only as a tool to raise funds but also as a way to build inclusive communities where every student has the opportunity to thrive.
Beyond Fundraising
Seth lives in Oakland with his partner and their dog. When he’s not advancing equity-focused philanthropy, you can find him running long distances, enjoying a good soccer match, or reading.
Reflecting on his new role, Seth shared:
“I’m thrilled to be joining the Schools Fund—public education has given me so much, and I’m excited to get to work every day in service of amazing, equity-focused programs that are making a difference in Berkeley students’ lives.”
