Task Runners are dispatched by BSV to pick-up and deliver urgently needed technology and school supplies to students and families who are not otherwise able to access them centrally. Task Runners make quick-turnaround deliveries, completing delivery within 1-2 days of the request.
How does the Task Running System Work?
- Task Runners are alerted to open task runs via email, and open task runs are also listed as they come in on the School Support Volunteers Opportunity Google doc
- After signing up for a task run, volunteers are sent delivery details (address and contact info)
- The Task Runner picks up the item (e.g. Chromebook, hot spot, school supplies, books or learning packets) from a school or distribution center and delivers to students’ homes.
- Up to three delivery locations may be included on a task run. Runs are usually within the city of Berkeley; mileage reimbursement is available for longer runs.
- Task Runners also fill-in when needed as substitute Grocery Drivers and Grocery Delivery Volunteers.
What’s Required?
- Valid driver’s license, a car in good condition & standing, and scheduling flexibility
